Almost everyone has heard of Pat & John Rains and most probably have at least one of their books onboard. They are the authors of the popular Mexico Boating Guide as well as 5 other books. John is a well-known delivery captain and Pat has daily, weekly, and monthly columns in nautical publications in The Log Newspaper and Sea Magazine. She also has frequent articles appearing in Cruising World.

As professional mariners, the Rainses have skippered all kinds of boats over the coastal waters of the Caribbean, and Pacific coasts of Central America, dozens of times of the past 25 years. During 2010 they made an extensive research trip over these waters in a 57” Nordhavn trawler to research their 7th edition of “Cruising Ports: the Central American Route” updating their existing charges in the book and adding some new ones.
For the second time they are supporting the rally by providing copies of their 6th edition Cruising Ports Central America Guide as prizes.
